Vanish Skin Clinic

Stretchmarks

Rapid growth and over-stretching can result in damaged skin tone and texture. Stretchmarks can make an appearance during adolescent growth, as a result of pregnancy, during weight gain/loss or due to an underlying medical condition. Stretchmarks are often most noticeable on the thighs, buttocks, breasts and abdomen when a lack of skin elasticity stops stretched skin bouncing back into shape, causing permanent tearing. Damage caused by stretchmarks is greatly diminished by skin treatments that include laser therapy and skin needling. Vanish Skin Clinic uses state of the art equipment to deliver enviable results and ensure your skin is restored and rejuvenated.

What do stretchmarks look like?

They are usually quite visible before gradually fading over time, and can cause sufferers to shy away from situations where stretchmarks are noticeable. The marks run in relatively parallel raised pattern, often causing a 'corrugated' skin appearance. Stretchmarks can be several centimetres long and vary in colour from dark red to off white.

What are the underlying changes causing stretchmarks?

Underlying signifiers of stretchmarks include a lack of healthy cells in connective tissue, weakened skin elasticity, structural collagen changes and general atrophy caused by aging.

What treatments heal stretchmarks?

There are a range of treatments available to combat stretchmarks. Vanish Skin Clinic treats you as an individual, and will suggest the most appropriate treatment course. Treatments include laser therapy, microdermabrasion, fractional photothermolysis and healing cream.

How does laser remove stretchmarks?

An intense beam of light is used to remove discoloured and damaged skin surrounding stretchmarks. Healthy skin will naturally form in treated areas resulting in a dramatically diminished stretchmark appearance.

What does recovery involve?

The area operated on will be tender and red for a few days. Symptoms can include a burning sensation, and some blistering is possible on treated areas. The procedure is non-invasive, so natural healing begins immediately as healthy skin and tissue repair, restore and regenerate healthy skin.
